A Multi Purpose Center and Shelter in Mukdahan.
The work in Mukdahan started in 1999 and has grown out to the biggest of the three projects; with over 200 families supported through Home-Care, training provided for village, church and youth leaders/members as well as being active in anti Human trafficking issues on this border area.
Siam-Care is the thankful owner of a 5 Rai (2 Acre) piece of land from which all the activities are operated. We have begun building on the empty land, creating the multi purpose center and the shelter.
Phase 1 (Finished):
-Fill in and higher up the land before a rainy season in order for the rains to have settled the soil and prepared it for building.
-Have an architect draw up the plans for both buildings.
Phase 2 (Finished):
Fundraising for the first building: a Multi-Purpose centre from where our many training and workshop days for the community members, churches and youth as well as our family days and camps can be organised.
Costs: 1 Million Baht (around 20.000 Euro)
Phase 3 (Aimed to be completed in July 2010):
Building of the Multi-Purpose Center (See pictures)
Phase 4:
Fundraising for a 5 room (2 dorms and 3 family rooms) Shelter to offer temporary accomodation to the many who attend the training and workshops but more importantly for families and youth in need of shelter because of sickness, home situation etc.
Costs: 1,5 million Baht (around 30.000 Euro)
Final and 5th phase:
Building of the Shelter
Loong Theo
In the 1990s, when Cambodia went through a time of political change-over, the Dutch government sent a peace keeping army to join UNTAC; the logistics department was based in Bangkok. That is how Theo vd Hombergh got to know Siam-Care. In his own words “I've since been infected with the Siam-Care virus”.
Over the years Loong (uncle) Theo has frequently visited Siam-Care, mostly alone but also bringing his wife Hanneke and, now grow-up, children along. He has helped raise funds for various projects and whenever he was with Siam-Care, has always worked hard doing many odd jobs that needed doing.
Now thanks to Loong Theo and his relentless zeal to raise funds for the new buildings in Mukdahan we have been able to complete phase 3.
Together with Loong Theo we at Siam-Care want to express our thanks:
Thanks to the many sponsors from Holland and Thailand, it is now possible to start with the building of the Multifunctonal centre in Mukdahan.
We want to thank:
