You are here

Try to imagine: you are 34 years old and live without a husband but with your 11-year-old daughter in a primitive shelter next to your parents house. You have psoriasis, a persistent skin-problem, so worse that your whole skin is eaten away by the disease. It actually makes you so weak that you cannot walk, in fact: exercise is hardly possibly anyway.

This is the story of Yin. She is one of the people that Siam-Care Mukdahan is looking after. And that is pretty amazing, because a year ago Yin, and especially her parents, were absolutely not open to help from others, to put it mildly. They had a strong believe that Yins skin-problems were caused by evil spirits. To get rid of them, they thought, Yin just had to wait for a good spirit to heal her body. At one moment Yin was so weak that she lay on the floor for two months, without the tiniest bit of movement. It is little miracle that at that time she didn’t pass away.

Renewed energy for Yin

After a while Yins neighbors got so worried about her physical condition, that they warned the local hospital. The hospital then contacted Siam Care and asked us to transport Yin to the hospital. And so it happened. A couple days later we decided to add Yin and her daughter to our family care program, cause this family needs long term help. Yin's parents still work as farmers, but since they are old, they cannot work hard and the family has a very low income. Hence they struggle to survive. Staff of Siam Care now visits Yin regularly. With all positive consequences. We have the opportunity to provide medicine and share time with Yin and her family. It obviously helped Yin; she now is able to walk small distances again. Her skin still gives her a hard time, but due to the medicine she gained her strength back and has a renewed energy to look after her daughter.

Your donation helps Yin and Taek

Yin and her daughter Taek live in a small village, about 15 kilometers away from Mukdahan. Due to her condition Yin is not able to work and has to survive on 500 baht government subsidy per month, which she receives because of her psoriasis. Her parents grow rice, but they do not make enough to cover all the expenses, like school fee for Taek and medicine for Yin. Thanks to Siam-Care's donors, we can have a positive impact on families like Yin and Taek. Thank you for allowing us to make a difference for people in need.
