1- Children’s day in Phang Nga:
On the second Saturday of the year, Thailand celebrates children’s day; a special day where children receive extra attention, get to go on free rides and play lots of games. The government usually opens its buildings, fun parks are for free for the kids and even the air-force opens its airport for kids to have a closer look at planes. A time when families join in an outing together.
This year in both Phang Nga and Mukdahan the Siam-Care staff joined in the local village activities. We had set up a booth with information on child protection issues and had some games with questions and answers. The booth was a big success and many kids joined in the educational-fun.
2- Birthday Adrienne:
On the 23rd of January, the 50th Birthday of the Siam-Care director Adrienne became a true celebration and unforgettable experience for many. As she invited all the staff and some of the SC families and friends to join together on the highest building in Bangkok: the 75th floor of the Bayok Sky Hotel. How wonderful it was to see the delight on the face of a grandmother who has lived her whole live in one of the very poor Bangkok slum communities as she, together with her sick, HIV positive child was in a place she could only ever look up to and never had dreamed of looking down from. With almost 90 adults and children we together enjoying a wonderful buffet, prayers, songs, dances, and games.
3- Staff Retreat:
From the 25th-29th of January all staff from the 3 locations joined in the staff retreat at Monorom Christian Conference Centre is Chinat Province. A time of fun, fellowship and really good solid teaching by members of the Living Waters Thailand team, spoke to all our hearts and lives. The theme was “True Love” and we looked at the many areas in our own lives and the lives of those we serve where are hurt and broken and not in relationship with the Lord who is the only One from whom we can receive and then pass on True Love.
